🧭 Saudi Visa & Iqama Check — What do you need to verify?
Saudi Arabia uses several official portals depending on what you are checking. Pick the right one below.
- 🟢 Exit / Re-Entry visa — see § How to Check Exit / Re-Entry Visa
- 🔵 Visitor visa (Tourist / Umrah / Family Visit) — see § How to Check Visitor Visa
- 🟠 Iqama (residency) status / expiry — see § Iqama Status (checked on Absher, not Muqeem)
- 🟣 Makkah Entry Permit — see § Makkah Entry Permit
📌 Decision Matrix — Where does my question go?
| What you are checking | Official route | Access |
|---|---|---|
| Exit / Re-Entry Visa status | Muqeem Visa Validity — vv.muqeem.sa | Public, no login |
| Visitor Visa (Tourist / Umrah / Family Visit) status | Muqeem Visa Validity — vv.muqeem.sa | Public, no login |
| Iqama / Resident ID expiry & status | Absher — Public Query Resident ID Expiry | Public service on Absher |
| Employer / organizational resident data & passport operations | Muqeem organizational portal — muqeem.sa | Login required |
| Verify a printed Muqeem or Visitor report | Muqeem — Verify Muqeem Report or Verify Visitor Report | Public verification |
| Makkah Entry Permit issuance | Makkah Permit Portal — makkahpermit.muqeem.sa | Organizations only |
🔍 How to Check Exit / Re-Entry Visa (Muqeem Visa Validity)
Use the Muqeem Visa Validity portal at vv.muqeem.sa. This flow is publicly accessible; no login is required.
Step 1 — Open the portal
Go to vv.muqeem.sa. Switch to English from the top-right menu if needed.
Step 2 — Choose the visa type
Select Exit re-entry visa. The portal also offers a separate Visitor visa flow (see § How to Check Visitor Visa).
Step 3 — Choose a primary key (Check using)
The portal accepts one of four primary keys:
- Iqama Number
- Visa Number
- Border Number
- Birth Date
Step 4 — Choose a cross-match value
The portal shows a Cross match by selector. The available values depend on your chosen primary key. Choose the one shown to you, complete the captcha, and submit.
Step 5 — Read the result
For an Exit / Re-Entry visa, the result page shows:
- Iqama Number, Visa Number, Name, Passport Number
- Visa Status
- Visa Type
- Visa Duration
- Return Before — shown in both Gregorian and Hijri
- Visa Issuance Date — Gregorian and Hijri
- Birth Date — Gregorian and Hijri
- Inside / Outside Kingdom
📌 Terminology note. The official field name for the last date on which you must re-enter Saudi Arabia is Return Before. This is not the same as “Visa Expiry Date” — that term is used only for Visitor Visas.
🔍 How to Check a Visitor Visa (Muqeem Visa Validity)
The same portal — vv.muqeem.sa — also verifies Visitor visas (Tourist, Umrah, Family Visit). Select Visitor visa as the visa type. The result schema is different from Exit / Re-Entry.
For a Visitor visa, the result page shows:
- Name, Visa Number, Passport Number
- Visa Status
- Visa Type
- Number of Entries
- Visa Issuance Date (Gregorian)
- Visa Expiry Date (Gregorian) — Visitor-visa specific
- Visa Duration In Days
- Resident Days Used
- Visa Remaining Duration
- Permitted to Enter / Not Permitted to Enter
🆔 Iqama (Resident ID) Status & Expiry — checked on Absher
The Muqeem Visa Validity portal (vv.muqeem.sa) verifies visas. It is not a public Iqama expiry checker.
To check the status and expiry of a Resident ID (Iqama), use the official Absher platform, which provides a Public Query Resident ID Expiry service.
Absher also handles other personal-side services including Exit / Re-Entry visa status for the individual account holder, and Final Exit visa queries.
If an Iqama is expired, the sponsoring employer must renew it through the appropriate organizational portal before an Exit / Re-Entry visa can be issued or extended.
⚖️ Which portal handles which service?
Muqeem is an electronic service developed by Elm in cooperation with the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat). Muqeem itself is split across separate portals with different audiences, and it does not overlap with Absher.
| Portal | Audience | Primary function | Login |
|---|---|---|---|
Muqeem Visa Validityvv.muqeem.sa | Public | Verify Exit / Re-Entry and Visitor visa status | No |
Absherabsher.sa | Individual citizens & residents | Personal e-services: Iqama expiry, Exit / Re-Entry status for the account holder, Final Exit and other services | Yes (Absher account) |
Muqeem organizational portalmuqeem.sa | Organizations, employers, HR | Workforce residency data and passport operations; also runs Verify Muqeem Report and Verify Visitor Report | Yes (organizational) |
Makkah Entry Permit Portalmakkahpermit.muqeem.sa | Organizations only | Issue and manage Makkah Entry Permits for residents | Yes (organizational) |
📄 Verify a printed Muqeem or Visitor report
Muqeem’s organizational portal (muqeem.sa) provides two separate report-verification services. Choose the one that matches your document type.
§ 7a — Verify Muqeem Report
Used to verify official resident / employee reports issued by Muqeem (for example, resident data printouts or exit / re-entry printouts).
§ 7b — Verify Visitor Report
Used to verify reports issued for visitor-visa data. This is a distinct service from Verify Muqeem Report and covers a different document type.
Both services are reached from the Muqeem organizational portal at muqeem.sa.
🕋 Makkah Entry Permit — makkahpermit.muqeem.sa
During restricted periods, entry into Makkah for expatriate residents and workers requires an official Makkah Entry Permit. Permits are issued through a dedicated portal, makkahpermit.muqeem.sa, by organizations only. No public permit verification exists on this portal.
Who typically needs a Makkah Permit
- Expatriate workers employed in Makkah or the Holy Sites
- Residents whose Iqama is issued outside Makkah Province
- Domestic workers accompanying sponsors into Makkah
Organizational workflow — real gates
The Makkah Permit process is not a single-step download. The portal’s own workflow includes:
- Organization registration on the portal
- Contract verification (permits are tied to a verified work contract)
- Permit request submission (referencing the beneficiary resident)
- Approval by Jawazat
- Paid quotation and payment (Makkah permits are a paid service)
- Permit issuance
- Optional operations later: suspend, update permit location, exceptional permit issuance
⚠️ Exit / Re-Entry visa expired while abroad — what now?
- You cannot board a flight to Saudi Arabia on an expired Exit / Re-Entry visa.
- The sponsoring employer typically has to extend the visa electronically through the appropriate Muqeem organizational or Absher Business route.
- The Iqama must have enough remaining validity to permit an Exit / Re-Entry extension.
- Extension fees apply. Fee amounts and rules are set by the government; check the current official schedule for exact numbers.
👥 Checking documents for a group?
For a single traveller, the official portal above is enough. For tour operators, group leaders and coordinators handling 10, 30 or 50 pilgrims at once, the practical question is not “how do I check one visa” but “how do I make sure the whole group’s documents are in order before the trip”.
NewHaj does not perform visa verification itself — each traveller’s status must always be checked on the official portal — but we help coordinate the surrounding logistics, from transport to hotels to Umrah movement vouchers.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Can I check an Exit / Re-Entry visa without logging in?
Yes. The Muqeem Visa Validity portal at vv.muqeem.sa offers a public flow. You choose the visa type, provide a primary key (Iqama Number, Visa Number, Border Number or Birth Date) and a cross-match value, and complete the captcha. No account is required for this public verification.
Can I check a Muqeem visa from outside Saudi Arabia?
Yes. The vv.muqeem.sa portal is accessible from any browser or mobile device worldwide.
What is the difference between “Return Before” and “Visa Duration”?
Return Before is the last date on which the holder of an Exit / Re-Entry visa must re-enter Saudi Arabia. It is shown in both Gregorian and Hijri.
Visa Duration is the allowed period counted from the first departure. Together the two answer “by when” and “for how long”.
Where do I check my Iqama expiry?
Not on Muqeem Visa Validity. Use Absher — its Public Query Resident ID Expiry service is the correct route for Iqama status and expiry checks.
Why does Muqeem show “Invalid Match Key” or “No Record Found”?
Usually the cross-match value does not match the Jawazat record exactly. Try a different primary key or a different cross-match value.
Can I check a Final Exit visa on Muqeem Visa Validity?
The public Muqeem Visa Validity portal focuses on Exit / Re-Entry and Visitor visas. For a Final Exit visa (Khuruj Niha’i), use your personal Absher account or contact your employer HR department.
