Muqeem: Check Your Visa Validity
Muqeem is the Saudi platform for verifying an exit/re-entry visa or Iqama before you travel — from inside the Kingdom or from abroad. Below is the quickest way to check, followed by how Muqeem fits alongside Absher and MOFA so you always know where to look.
To check an exit/re-entry visa or Iqama, use the Muqeem visa-validity service: enter your Iqama or visa number plus one matching detail (passport number or date of birth). It works from anywhere in the world.
Muqeem covers residency and exit/re-entry. For personal services use Absher; for tourist, Umrah, or visit visas use MOFA. Always use the official site, muqeem.sa.
How to check your exit/re-entry visa
The check takes about two minutes and shows your visa type, dates, status, and permitted exits.
-
Open the Muqeem validity service
Go to the official Muqeem portal (muqeem.sa, or the visa-validity gateway) and open the Visa Validity service.
-
Choose the visa type
Select “Exit/Re-Entry Visa” from the list of visa types.
-
Enter your Iqama or visa number
Type your Iqama number (or the visa number) into the field provided.
-
Cross-match one identifier
Confirm your identity with one matching detail — passport number, date of birth, name, Iqama expiry, or visa expiry date.
-
Check and read the result
Submit to see your visa type, issue and expiry dates, current status, and how many exits remain — instantly.
A 2026 note on logging in
The quick visa-validity check was historically open without any login — just your Iqama or visa number plus one detail. As of 2026, access is tightening and some users are now asked to sign in first. The full Muqeem portal, used mainly by employers, requires an Absher-linked login. If the check asks you to log in, that is the current behaviour — and only ever use the official site, never a third-party copy.
Muqeem vs Absher vs MOFA
Three official platforms cover different visas. Using the right one first saves time — here’s who does what.
Muqeem
Best for: exit/re-entry visa validity and Iqama status.
Run by the Passports Directorate (Jawazat) via ELM. Used by employers to manage residency, and by individuals to check before travel — including from abroad.
Absher
Best for: your personal government services.
The individual-facing Ministry of Interior portal — Iqama renewal, traffic fines, civil affairs, issuing exit/re-entry visas, and checking dependents. Same MOI database as Muqeem.
MOFA
Best for: entry visas into the Kingdom.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal handles tourist, Umrah, visit, and business visas. Check these using your application number and passport number — no account needed.
What you can verify
- Exit/re-entry validityWhether your single or multiple visa is still valid, with issue and expiry dates.
- Permitted exitsHow many times you may leave and return on a multiple visa.
- Iqama status & expiryConfirm residency validity before it lapses or before you travel.
- From anywhereRun the check from outside Saudi Arabia before flying back.
- Employer & sponsor toolsBusinesses manage and inquire about workers’ residency and visas.
- Final exit — check elsewhereFor a final exit visa, Absher or the labor portal are the reliable sources.
What is Muqeem?
Muqeem (مقيم) is an online service of the Saudi Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat), operated by ELM. It is used mainly by employers and sponsors to manage residency and visa services for their workers and dependents, and by individuals to verify an exit/re-entry visa or Iqama.
Because Muqeem, Absher, and Jawazat share the same database, an Iqama issued or renewed on Muqeem reflects immediately in the employee’s Absher profile — a single source of truth rather than three competing records. That’s why a check here matches what you see in Absher.
⚠ If your visa expired while you’re abroad
You cannot re-enter Saudi Arabia on an expired exit/re-entry visa. Your sponsor or employer must arrange a new entry visa for you. Contact them as soon as possible to avoid accumulating overstay penalties — and always check your validity a few days before you fly back.
Muqeem FAQ
How do I check my exit/re-entry visa on Muqeem?
Open the Muqeem visa-validity service, choose the Exit/Re-Entry visa type, enter your Iqama or visa number, and confirm with one matching identifier such as your passport number or date of birth. The system then shows your visa type, issue and expiry dates, status, and the number of permitted exits.
Can I check my visa from outside Saudi Arabia?
Yes. The Muqeem visa-validity check can be used from anywhere in the world, so you can confirm whether your single or multiple exit/re-entry visa is still valid before you fly back to the Kingdom.
Do I need an Absher account to use Muqeem?
The full Muqeem portal at muqeem.sa, used mainly by employers and sponsors, requires an Absher-linked login. The quick public visa-validity check was historically open without any login, though as of 2026 access is tightening and some users are now asked to sign in first.
What is the difference between Muqeem and Absher?
Muqeem is used mainly by employers and sponsors to manage residency and to check exit/re-entry and Iqama data. Absher is the individual-facing portal for personal services such as Iqama renewal, traffic fines, and civil affairs. Both connect to the same Ministry of Interior database.
Where do I check a tourist, Umrah, or visit visa?
Tourist, Umrah, visit, and business visas are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and are checked on the MOFA portal using your application number and passport number — not on Muqeem, which focuses on exit/re-entry and residency.
What do I need to check my visa validity?
You need your Iqama number or visa number, plus one matching identifier — your passport number, date of birth, name, Iqama expiry date, or visa expiry date. The check then displays your status and expiry instantly.
Can Muqeem show a final exit visa?
Muqeem’s main role is checking exit/re-entry visa validity. Coverage of final exit visas is less consistent, so for a final exit visa the reliable places to check are Absher or the Ministry of Labor portal.
My exit/re-entry visa expired while I’m abroad — what now?
You cannot re-enter Saudi Arabia on an expired exit/re-entry visa. Your sponsor or employer must arrange a new entry visa for you, so contact them as soon as possible to avoid accumulating overstay penalties.
