Jabal Omar Hyatt Regency Makkah
Hyatt's only property in Makkah, standing directly opposite King Fahd Gate — one of the shortest, most direct walking routes into Al-Masjid Al-Haram of any 5-star hotel in the city.
A global business-hotel brand, built for pilgrims
Hyatt Regency Makkah opened in June 2015 as the first Hyatt-branded hotel in the city and remains Hyatt's only Makkah property. It sits on the first line of the Jabal Omar development, directly facing King Fahd Gate, which puts it on one of the more direct pedestrian routes into the Haram compared with hotels set further back in the development.
Front-row on Jabal Omar
Faces King Fahd Gate with no shopping-mall concourse to cross — a shorter, more predictable walk to the mataf than hotels routed through Jabal Omar's retail podiums.
Dedicated guest elevators
Guest-only elevator banks, separate from mall and back-of-house traffic — the single biggest factor in how long a "5-minute walk" actually takes during Hajj and Ramadan peaks.
Built around prayer
Men's and women's musalla on the parking level, and rooms designed with the day's five prayers in mind rather than retrofitted for it.
How far is it, really?
Marketing pages round down to "a minute's walk." On the ground, walking time depends heavily on crowd density, so we've set out the honest range alongside Hyatt's own claim.
| Landmark | Distance | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Al-Masjid Al-Haram | ~350–500 m | Hyatt markets it as "one-minute walk"; independent listings cite 3–7 minutes depending on the King Fahd Gate route and crowding |
| King Fahd Gate | Directly opposite | Hotel entrance faces the gate across Ibrahim Al Khalil Street |
| Jeddah Airport (JED) | ~75–90 km | Roughly 60–75 minutes by road, traffic-dependent |
| Haramain High-Speed Rail (Makkah) | Several km out | Taxi or hotel transfer recommended, not walkable |
| Madinah | ~420 km | Around 4–4.5 hours by road, or via Haramain train |
Distances are approximate and vary by exact routing; treat marketing figures ("one-minute walk") as best-case rather than typical, especially during Hajj, Ramadan and peak Umrah season.
Address & access notes
656 rooms across 19 floors
The property holds 656 rooms in total — 25 suites, 18 villas and 2 penthouses among them — ranging from 38 m² standard rooms up to the 190 m² Royal Suite. Sizes below are as listed by Hyatt; always confirm current configuration and bedding when you book, since inventory shifts seasonally.
| Room / suite | Size | Sleeps | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard King / Twin | 38 m² | 2 | City or partial Haram view depending on tower face |
| Triple / Quad Room | 38 m² | 3–4 | Extra beds added; best for small family or friend groups |
| Partial Haram View Room | 38 m² | 2–3 | Sightline toward the mosque plaza, subject to floor and tower |
| Regency Club RoomLounge access | 38 m² | 2 | Includes Regency Club Lounge breakfast, snacks & evening drinks, one free meeting-room hour |
| Executive Suite | 76 m² | 4 | Separate living area |
| Royal SuiteKaaba view | 190 m² | 5 | 18th floor, dining room, separate office, direct Kaaba view |
| Penthouse (×2) | up to 410 m² | — | 19th floor, the hotel's highest and largest units, overlooking Al-Masjid Al-Haram |
Complimentary breakfast, all-day snacks, evening cocktails and one hour of meeting-room use. Lounge service pauses during Ramadan.
Book a Triple/Quad configuration rather than adding a rollaway to a Standard — the 38 m² footprint gets tight with an extra bed squeezed in.
True direct Kaaba views are effectively limited to the Royal Suite and the two top-floor penthouses — "partial Haram view" on lower categories means the plaza/skyline, not the Kaaba itself.
Four venues, one 24-hour kitchen
All dining is halal by default, as with every hotel inside the Haram precinct. The Oasis has picked up international recognition; the rest cover the practical range from grab-and-go to in-room service around the clock.
The Oasis
Arabic, Asian and Western cooking from breakfast to dinner, à la carte and buffet. Named a Country Winner at the 2017 World Luxury Restaurant Awards (Eclectic – International Cuisine).
Al Forno
Modern bistro-style Italian, lunch and dinner, à la carte only.
Tea Lounge
Sightlines toward the Holy Mosque, tea and coffee service, mocktails and comfort food, with a weekend afternoon-tea sitting.
Al Tekkeya
Starbucks coffee and homemade sandwiches, quick service aimed at worshippers moving between prayers, with a weekend crepe station.
In-room dining runs 24 hours: a breakfast menu, all-day dining from roughly 11:00 to 23:00, and a dedicated overnight menu.
What's included beyond the room
Ramadan & Hajj — what changes
Lounge breakfast, snacks and evening drinks are suspended during Ramadan; standard in-room breakfast and restaurant service continue.
Like every hotel on Jabal Omar, pricing rises well above baseline during Hajj and Ramadan — book early and confirm the cancellation policy for the dates you need.
The "one-minute" claim assumes clear plaza access. During Hajj and the last ten nights of Ramadan, plan closer to 10–15 minutes each way with crowd control in place.
Where it sits among Jabal Omar's 5-star tier
Jabal Omar hosts several international 5-star brands within a few hundred metres of each other. Hyatt Regency's edge is logistics — a direct approach with no retail concourse to cross — rather than being the newest or the most photographed.
Hyatt Regency
First line, facing King Fahd Gate; dedicated guest lifts; no mall crossing to reach the plaza.
Conrad Makkah
Higher up Jabal Omar with a more secluded feel and strong dining reputation; slightly longer, uphill approach.
Hilton Suites Makkah
Suite-heavy inventory suited to bigger family groups, close to the mosque's prayer halls.
Address Jabal Omar
Dramatic high-rise prayer terrace and skyline views, offset by a steeper pedestrian climb from street level.
Before you book
How far is Hyatt Regency Makkah from the Haram, in practice?
Hyatt's own marketing says a one-minute walk; independent hotel-comparison sites put the real distance nearer 350–500 metres, roughly 3–7 minutes on foot depending on which King Fahd Gate route you take and how busy the plaza is. During Hajj or the last ten nights of Ramadan, allow considerably longer.
Which rooms actually have a Kaaba view?
Direct views of the Kaaba are effectively limited to the Royal Suite (18th floor) and the two penthouses (19th floor). Lower "partial Haram view" categories look toward the mosque plaza and skyline rather than the Kaaba itself.
Is the Regency Club Lounge open during Ramadan?
No — lounge breakfast, snacks and evening drinks are suspended for Ramadan. Standard breakfast and restaurant dining continue as usual.
How do I get here from Jeddah Airport (JED)?
It's roughly 75–90 km, about 60–75 minutes by road depending on traffic. Airport transfer can be arranged through the hotel or through us on WhatsApp when you book.
Can I get live rates for my exact dates?
Rates move a lot with the season, especially around Hajj and Ramadan, so we don't publish static prices here. Message us on WhatsApp with your dates and party size and we'll come back with current availability.
